Ireland to China Charity Motorcycle Ride

‘an epic challenge and in aid of an incredible charity- these guys rock and they have all my admiration for what they are attempting. And to support two charities that directly inspire and help young peoples’ lives is so at the heart of what they are about. Go get em!’  Bear Grylls, January 2015

The cause

John and Brigid Rynne at Kilkee, Co. ClareJohn and Brigid Rynne are proud to announce that this motorcycle ride will raise money for two charities whose aims are to provide counseling and support to children and young people suffering from a variety of mental health issues and who may be at risk of suicide. The two charities are:

The William Winder Rainbow Foundation, a charity based Co. Clare, Ireland. Set up in memory of a local teenager, by his parents.

Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional well-being and mental health of children and young people.

The idea

In April 2015, we will start a motorcycle ride from Inagh in County Clare, Ireland, to Beijing in China and back – a round-trip distance of approximately 18,500 miles or 30,000km! We will ride through the UK and western Europe into Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We’ll cross into China from Kyrgyzstan and ride east to Beijing. Inagh is our home town, and “Inagh to China” has nice ring to it as the two place names rhyme (in case you were wondering).

Our return route will take us across Mongolia and into Russia, where we will pick up the Trans-Siberian Highway and head westwards via Moscow, the Ukraine (Kiev and L’Viv), Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, the UK and, finally, home to County Clare in Ireland. The whole trip should take approximately four months.
